From Hayden Lake the falls run in two directions. North toward Priest River country you get Albeni Falls, visible without leaving the car, with McAbee and Torrelle up the same stretch of highway. East in the Coeur d'Alene River drainage, Shadow Falls is an easy half mile and Fern Falls goes 2.5 miles with 400 feet of climb. Mission Falls works hardest of the group, 3 miles and 500 feet. Eight falls total, and most of the ones with trails take dogs.
