About Cascade Falls Natural Waterslide

Cascade Falls Natural Waterslide is a small, locally popular exposed-rock slide and pool feature on a creek in the Abbotsford/Chilliwack region of British Columbia (coords: 49.2789, -122.2025). The feature is formed where water runs over smooth bedrock, creating a natural sliding run into downstream pools. Flow, water depth and safety vary seasonally; spring runoff increases flow and can make the slide fast and hazardous, while late summer often provides lower flows and warmer water. Access and infrastructure are minimal, expect unmarked or lightly maintained approaches and a natural setting rather than an official park developed for swimming/waterslides.

The Setting

Cascade Falls Natural Waterslide sits at 376 metres within Old Growth Management Areas (Mapped Legal), in the foothills of British Columbia. The falls drop 30 metres.

Why This Waterfall Exists

Cascade Falls Natural Waterslide flows over hard intrusive rock laid down about 145-162 million years ago. These resistant rocks form a durable ledge that water cannot easily wear away, creating a 98-foot drop where softer material downstream has already eroded.

Nearby Falls Worth Visiting

Cascade Falls (30 m) lies 0.8 kilometres to the west. Also nearby: McDonald Falls (25 m, 3.1 km) and Terepocki Twin Falls (13 m, 11.6 km).

When to Visit

spring summer fall

Late spring to early fall. Spring brings high flows (more dramatic but more hazardous). Summer often offers the warmest and lowest flows suitable for sliding but can be busiest. Early fall can provide quieter access and stable water levels. Avoid winter for sliding due to cold, ice and slippery conditions.

Seasonal Access

The best time to visit is Spring, Summer, and Fall. Winter access may be limited. Check with the managing park or local authority for current conditions.

Safety Information

High-risk hazards include slippery wet rock, submerged rocks and logs, variable/deceptive water depth, swift currents during high flow, cold water shock, and no rescue services or lifeguards. Avoid sliding into unknown depths or through fast currents. Cell service may be limited, tell someone your plan and expected return time. Do not attempt the slide after heavy rain or during spring freshet. Be especially cautious with children and inexperienced swimmers. If you encounter private property signage or locked gates, respect them and do not trespass.
