About Sacred Falls

Sacred Falls on the island of Oahu is a dramatic ribbon of water set in a narrow, lush Hawaiian valley that many visitors remember for its towering cliff walls and tropical vegetation. The site sits within Sacred Falls State Park and is managed by SPR. While its natural beauty and cultural significance drew hikers for years, the area is now permanently closed to the public out of respect for its sacred nature and because of ongoing safety hazards. What remains available to visitors are photographs and stories of the falls; entry to the park and the former trail is not permitted. The closure is enforced to protect both people and the fragile landscape, and SPR asks that everyone honor the restriction and the cultural importance of this place.
