Waterfall Hikes Near Granite Falls, MN

Granite Falls is named for the granite rock at the old falls of the Minnesota River in town, where a hydroelectric dam has stood since 1911. Minnesota Falls, 2.5 miles downstream, was a stretch of rapids held back by a small power dam until Xcel Energy removed it in 2013, and the page lists no trail numbers for it. Ramsey Falls is the walk to plan, a 1-mile round trip with about 100 feet of climb in Alexander Ramsey Park at Redwood Falls, roughly 30 miles southeast, and dogs are welcome. Those are the only two falls within 50 miles, and the drive between them runs down the Minnesota River valley.
