About Bijoux Falls

Bijoux Falls is a small, scenic roadside cascade in north‑central British Columbia. The falls drop into a narrow gorge and are served by a short paved/boardwalk spur from a parking turnout with an elevated viewing platform and interpretive signage. It is commonly visited for a quick stop while travelling and for photography. Exact onsite amenities (picnic benches, vault toilet) may vary by season and should be confirmed before travel.

The Setting

Bijoux Falls sits at 792 metres within BIJOUX FALLS PARK, in the hills of British Columbia. At 40 metres, it is among the taller waterfalls in British Columbia.

Why This Waterfall Exists

Bijoux Falls flows over Misinchinka Group, a layered sedimentary rock layer deposited about 539 million to 1.0 billion years ago. Over time, the stream has worn through these layers at different rates, creating a 131-foot drop that forms the waterfall.

The best time to visit is Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Check with the managing park or local authority for current conditions.

Safety Information

Hazards include slippery or icy surfaces on the boardwalk and platform, steep dropoffs at the gorge, quickly changing weather, and limited parking space adjacent to a highway. Keep to designated viewing areas, supervise children, and avoid approaching the edge or attempting to climb down to the riverbed. In winter the platform and path can be especially treacherous; consider traction devices and exercise extra caution.

Visitor Tips & Gear

• Use the turnout/parking only, do not block the highway. • Stay behind fences/railings and on the designated boardwalk/viewing platform; the gorge can be steep and slippery. • Wear sturdy footwear; in winter, bring traction devices (microspikes). • Bring a camera and a wind/rain layer, spray and weather can change visibility. • There may be limited or no cell service; let someone know your plans if travelling remote highways.

For this easy 0.2 km trail, lightweight trail shoes and a water bottle are usually sufficient. Icy conditions are common in winter — traction cleats are a smart addition.
