About Hilton Falls

Hilton Falls is the signature waterfall in the Hilton Falls Conservation Area near Milton, Ontario. The falls sit on the Credit River and are set against the Niagara Escarpment, with a short, well-marked trail and viewing platforms that make the falls a popular destination for day hikers, photographers and families. Flow and appearance vary through the year, typically highest in spring and after heavy rain, and often partially or fully frozen in winter.

The easy 1.0-km out-and-back trail gains 46 metres of elevation on the way to the falls.

Trail Description

From the main parking area a short, signed trail leads to the main viewpoint for Hilton Falls. The route is mostly wide, well-maintained footpaths with some boardwalk/timber stair sections and rocky sections near the lookout. The primary walk to the falls and back is short (under 2 miles round-trip) and suitable for most visitors. Several longer loop trails and connections to regional trail networks (including sections that link toward the Bruce Trail) are available for those wanting a longer hike.

Hilton Falls Conservation Area is located northwest of Milton, Ontario. Coordinates: 43.5097, -79.9792. It is roughly 17–25 miles from nearby cities (Hamilton ~17.5 miles, Kitchener ~23.9 miles, Orangeville ~24.8 miles). Access is from the Conservation Halton parking area off of 5th Line or adjacent roads; follow signs for Hilton Falls Conservation Area.
